About the Artist
I am woman hear me roar…and on top of that ( as if something could top being a woman) I am also a mainly self-taught Danish artist, based in the beautiful north Italian city of Reggio Emilia where I live in the historic centre with my husband.
I create a mix of digital art and painting, digital being the newer addition, but one I found that I really enjoy, as it has given me a different way of creating. My art is very much based in the big and small emotions that comes with the everyday human experience. Everything from the pain of a toothache to the feeling of all consuming love, frustration, anger and joy.
In almost all my art you will find an eye. Eyes are something that have always had a big draw on me. I feel it is where you see the truth and dept of someones soul, of their happiness, their fear, their sorrow…A mouth can frown or smile, yet the eyes can never lie.
The mid-century period of art and design inspires me a lot, and as I also managed to get a textile design education in Florence, I tend to play with patterns in my art. I like the feeling of putting together a puzzle that even I don’t fully know the finished result of, until the last brush or pencil stroke. When it comes to colours, it is very much the same. I enjoy trying to figure out new ways to put them together and see what it does to the overall expression of a piece.
I love to take a B&W sketch and see how it comes to life in a whole new way depending on what colours are chosen. All that, mixed with the right music,(and the occasional true crime podcast) makes one big pot of happy art bubble for yours truly, just like when I was a kid . Except now I put little pieces of my colourful inner world on a canvas, or piece of paper to share with all of you good people. I hope you enjoy this look into my inner creative world.
