About the Artist
Photographer and Visual artist Stefan Ragimov expressed a strong attachment for the fine arts very early on. He grew up between Moscow and Istanbul where he was inspired by every detail these historical and artistic cities were to offer.
In 2012, he started to focus on photography, in particular, thanks to the advent of digital and post-production image techniques. He spent his time between Melbourne, Istanbul and Buenos Aires, created and tried many different visual art forms to express his ideas, desires, political stand and interest.
His art mainly focuses on addressing issues of identity, cultural taboos, sexuality and social/political unrest in his country. Although Ragimov’s works stems from personal lived experience, it transcends boundaries by creating powerful rebel images in the framework of a contemporary patriarchal society.
