Om værket
If there is ever a series of paintings that expresses homesickness most obviously – it is this one.
All three of these paintings are views from my childhood window, a relatively new building (mid-1990’s), built next to an old neighbourhood, which until recently had been on the edge of town and next to the fields. Old shabby houses built in 1950-60’s, not maintained or improved much over the years, they are a capsule of time. Even the names of these streets still carry the agricultural meaning they were given back in the day: Harvest street, Hay street, Ploughing street.
This is the second one in this series of three. Not only these streets are a capsule of time, but also the people who live in these old houses. Zooming in on the neighbourhood and capturing the human figure in the center, even though I know that these are old houses and poor families, I can’t help but feel some admiration for them, for living in this old neighbourhood since it was built. For hanging in there through all these changes around them.
