Curator 2027
Curation of Art Nordic 2027
Art Nordic 2027 is a curated art exhibition. All applications are reviewed, and participating artists are selected based on their artistic expression and submitted works.
The curator for Art Nordic 2027 is art historian Ole Winther.
Who is Ole Winther?
Ole Winther is an art historian with many years of experience in art and culture.
He has held a senior position at the Danish Ministry of Culture and is currently Public Affairs Director at HAVE Kommunikation.
As curator, he combines his art-historical background with a strong curiosity for new artistic expressions.
What is the curator looking for?
Ole Winther is looking for art with quality, individuality and something at stake.
Han ser efter værker med en tydelig kunstnerisk stemme – kunst, der vækker nysgerrighed, forskyder blikket eller bliver ved med at arbejde i én, efter at man er gået videre.
There is no preference for one particular style, generation, technique or artistic direction. Both established artists and emerging talents are encouraged to apply.
What matters is the strength of the artistic expression and the application as a whole.
An exhibition of diverse artistic voices
Curation is not only about selecting strong individual artists.
The aim is also to create a cohesive exhibition where different materials, expressions and perspectives meet and are allowed to stand in contrast to one another.
Art Nordic should give visitors the opportunity both to encounter something familiar and to discover art they did not know they were looking for.
“If you are an artist with a strong artistic expression and works that you believe can bring something to Art Nordic, I would very much like to see them. We are not looking for one particular kind of art, but for quality, individuality and artists who have something at stake.”

Ole Winther, Curator
I am an art historian and have worked with art and culture for many years, including as a senior executive at the Danish Ministry of Culture and today as Public Affairs Director at HAVE Kommunikation. Throughout my career, I have followed the Danish art scene closely and worked extensively with art institutions, the conditions in which art is created and presented, and the role of art in society.
In 2025, I became curator of Art Nordic. Naturally, I bring my art-historical background to the role, but also a fundamental curiosity for art that has quality, individuality and something at stake.
I am not looking for one particular style, generation or artistic direction. I am interested in both established and emerging art, in different materials and artistic expressions, and especially in works that spark curiosity, shift our perspective or continue to resonate with us after we have moved on.
That is also what makes Art Nordic interesting to me. Here, we can create encounters between artists, works of art and a broad audience who do not necessarily share the same background or point of departure. For me, curation is therefore both about finding strong artists and about creating a context in which their differences are allowed to coexist – and where visitors can discover something they did not know they were looking for.
“If you are an artist with a strong artistic expression and works that you believe can bring something to Art Nordic, I would very much like to see them. We are not looking for one particular kind of art, but for quality, individuality and artists who have something at stake. That is why I hope that both established artists and emerging talents will apply to be part of Art Nordic 2027.”
